Went to Key Biscayne to practice capturing some fast moving subjects in preparation for my cruise to Alaska and photographing birds. Cyclists coming down the William Powell Bridge are moving quickly and served as great practice.
I set myself up with my Canon EOS R6 Mark II and my 24mm - 105mm f4 L series lens just around the bend after the big bridge. I made sure I was safe and would not interfere with the cyclist nor get pummeled by a driver distracted while behind the wheel.
After several snaps, I realized these cyclists weren’t smiling. I didn’t understand. I am always happy when I’m pedaling. Especially with that speed coming off the bridge. I was about to pack up and head home when this guy saw and understood the assignment.
No idea who you are but thank you for enjoying your ride. I dubbed him Smiles the Bike Rider. I snapped 8 photos of Smiles as he sped past. Results aren’t perfect. I did a lot of cropping. But at least he is in focus.
